Chlorine and fluorine provide an alternative oxidation pathway that will lead to the corrosion of even stainless steel 316L in an electrolysis process.

Obtaining pure water is a concern for any industry aiming to generate Hydrogen gas from the electrolysis of water. All domestic water supplies in Australia contain Fluoride and Chlorine. Chlorine can oxidize certain contaminants, improving water quality by reducing tastes and odors

For this reason tap water / scheme water cannot be used in the electrolysis process . Distilled water / rain water is required.  In isolated locations which use ground water for drinking, there is often high concentrations of Sodium, Magnesium , Iron, Calcium Salts that make the water “hard water” and unsuitable for use in electrolysis applications.

We have developed a water purification process using an ionic resin filter process to remove all cations and anions from the water that can be used for the Hydrogen generation electrolysis process. This process / system / Module can be used on scheme water and Ground water to produce high quality water for use in our systems, so that electrodes are never damaged. Testing of the ion concentration of scheme drinking water in Perth on January 17, showed a ion concentration of 780 ppm. When the same water supply was passed through the ionic resin filter ( see photo) the ion concentration dropped to 50 ppm – this is the same concentration of my Rainwater used in my hydrogen generators.

Water purification can be a major issue for people travelling or living in isolated regions where ground water is available and the cost of distilled water is very very expensive. Our Water / ionic Resin purification systems use replaceable modules that can be either completely replaced or returned to me to be reloaded with a fresh resin membrane system.

The lifespan of a Resin Module is 5000 hours of operation and is easily replaced by undoing the screw on pipes attached to each end of the resin Module. A 12 volt water pump can be used / attached to the module to used for stream or ground water.

This filter will remove chloride, flouride, sodium, potassium. calcium as well as a  number of other anions and Cations from water so that the water purity approaches that of Laboratory grade Distilled water.

The Purification rate of this system is 10 litres per hour,.  It is a slow system but is very efficient.  Tests on perth Drinking water recorded an ion concentration of 800 ppm , Whereas Laboratory grade Distilled water has an ion concentration of 40 ppm.  Using our patented Purification system recorded an ion concentration of 50 ppm.- an excellent result.

Using our Purification techniques makes these HFS systems almost indestructible , by itself,  Using marine grade stainless steel 316L is the material used for electrodes which is the main reason these systems have such a long life span.

The unit produces pure water free of cations or anions pollution. It is not designed to produce drinking water free of any Microbes/ Bacteria etc.- in fact removes the chlorine or fluorine used to cleanse water for human consumption.

The module has a black plastic coating covering the resin module , to protect it from UV damage to the resin loaded membranes.. This coating should not he damaged or removed.

Ion filter – Superior Water supplies

The Ion filter – Superior Water supplies for Hydrogen Generation

Chlorine and fluorine provide an alternative oxidation pathway that will lead to the corrosion of even stainless steel 316L in an electrolysis process.

Obtaining pure water is a concern for any industry aiming to generate Hydrogen gas from the electrolysis of water. All domestic water supplies in Australia contain Fluoride and Chlorine. Chlorine can oxidize certain contaminants, improving water quality by reducing tastes and odors

For this reason tap water / scheme water cannot be used in the electrolysis process . Operation

  1.  Connect the Tap Screw on attachment to the water faucet or tank or Pump
  2. Align the filter so that the water is forced to flow upwards through the filter.
  3. Adjust the water flow rate so that the water is flowing at a rate of 10 litres per hour – – the average coffee mug is 330 mls , so  thats approximately 3 cupfuls every 6 minute.    If the water is flowing faster the concentration of ions i the water would be higher  .  Normal tap water recorded 800 ppm where as properly filtered water measured 50 ppm.  When the water flow was faster than 10 litres per hour we recorded 100 ppm.
  4. Once the purification process is completed close the two taps so as to keep the purification chemicals  / Glass beads wet.  Never leave taps open. Drying of the internal components reducers the efficiency and lifespan
  5. A System should last fgor 5000 hours of operation before an  new cartridge is required  –  5000 hours is 500  x 10  = 5000 liters of pure water.

This is a New Patented purification process that is the best — far better than any imitation systems  available … a systems developed by an internationally recognized and qualified Chemical Engineering Team.
